Is China accountable for CoVID-19 pandemic? ?

Corona virus, or Chinese Virus, as US President Donald Trump calls it... Was it created in the Chinese biological lab or Was it nature’s call that sprung up on its own? Well... A lot of confusions and questions surround it. Before coming to any conclusion, let’s first delve into the events that occurred leading to this.

In December 2019, some persons in Wuhan, China reported of having mild fever, flu like symptoms while many others reported of serious implications such as having difficulty in breathing. Before the health authorities could understand the cause of these symptoms, many of the cities of China were flooded with such reporting of difficulties in breathing. It now became clear with testing that a virus of corona virus family ( other than the one involved in 2002 SARS epidemic) was at its play. On further analysis and testing, the health authorities came to the conclusion that most of the persons infected had some links with the Wuhan wet markets. Thus, it was inferred that the virus might have originated in bats or pangolins, and then human contacts with bat or pangolin took the shape of human-to-human transmission.

The Chinese authorities took the bold step of lockdown of its cities to contain the virus, and World Health Organisation was informed of the deadly nature of this virus. But before the WHO could further investigate about the origins and deadly nature of the virus, countries all over the world started coping with the situation to contain the virus. Meanwhile, W.H.O. declared it a global pandemic on March 11, 2020.

Now, the European countries along with some others are of the view that had China informed earlier about the lethal nature of the virus, things would have been much better and the countries would have been well prepared to tackle it. More than 110 countries are backing a motion for WHO to investigate the origins of the corona virus origin. However, the name China has not been specifically mentioned. China, on the other hand, agreed to let the countries investigate but said that now is not the right time to start investigation, rather the world should now work together to end the virus.

US President Donald Trump has his unflinching stand that the virus originated in Chinese biological lab and it was a means devised to tackle with the trade war that had disrupted Chinese economy. Whether the allegations put by Mr Trump holds water or not, will materialise only after further investigations. Till then, all we can do is wait and watch!!
